Tiger New Energy

Electrifying mobility solution with a nationwide network of battery-swapping stations in Bangladesh.

PROBLEM:

Over 3 million existing commercial E-3Ws in Bangladesh are grappling with two significant pain points: firstly, they are paying double the poor-quality, environmentally harmful lead-acid batteries due to a 110% tariff on imported batteries without warranties. Secondly, these E-3Ws can only be operated for 6 hours a day, as the batteries require an extensive 6-7 hour charging period, and to be replaced every 6-8 month, which hampers their productivity. This slows down the progress towards transitioning into a more sustainable transportation industry in Bangladesh.

SOLUTION:

Leveraging its existing lead-acid battery assembly line, Tiger’s future core business will revolve around establishing Bangladesh’s largest network of Li-ion battery swapping stations. Tiger’s Li-ion batteries are designed to offer more than five times the lifespan, translating to a 70% lower cost per use. Initially, the focus will be on serving the existing E3Ws, and over time, these swapping stations will also cater to future E-2Ws.

Impact Thesis

Tiger New Energy’s solutions facilitate the shift to electric-powered two and three-wheelers and expedite the adoption of EVs. The company aims to accelerate the transition to greener batteries while establishing battery swapping stations, thereby reducing carbon emissions within the transportation industry of Bangladesh.
